6th Grade World History Assignments

Week of May 11-15, 2020

Monday, May 11- Friday May 15, 2020:

This week is make-up week for students.  I have opened up every past assignment for you to complete until this Friday, May 15.  If you have completed all assignments to date your school work for my class has been completed.

Please go into your Skyward account to make sure you’ve done all of them and check to see what assignments you are missing and get busy!  The classroom assignments are on previous pages so just scroll down until you find the correct lesson and date.

Also, I will not use a notebook grade after all, so you do not have to turn in your notebook.

I will also announce the winners of the stock market game on Friday, May 15 and mail prizes to the winners right after that.  Remember, it was only the top 5 highest profit margins that would win.  All of you did a great job keeping up with your stock reports as I did.  It was fun watching prices for your shares going up and down.

I had a great time teaching your class this year and can’t wait to see you all again next year.  I will leave you with a final song as we all ride off into the sunset and blowing wind!  It’s Been a Great Adventure!

6th Grade World History Assignments

Week of April 20-23, 2020

Monday, April 20:  This is Geography Week!  Today, you will review  continents and oceans of the world. Also, you should review U.S. States again, take the challenge quiz and record your scores in your notebook.  Hit the retest button at the bottom of the quiz game and start again. The more you play the better you get!!  Challenge your parents to a game and see who gets the lowest timed score.

Today’s Links:

Tuesday, April 21:  Today you will do a journal writing assignment.  Yesterday you studied the continents and oceans of the world.  Today you will choose a country or state located on one of the seven continents. You will journal write by sharing 7 fascinating facts or historical event that took place there.  Once you select your continent, research it and see if the continent is comprised of states or countries.  For example, the continent of Africa is made up of 54 different countries while the continent of Australia is made up of only 6 different states. Countries like Spain and Canada are sometimes made up of provinces instead of states.  Figure out what you will choose. Here’s an example:

If I choose Australia as my continent, Australia is made up of 6 states. I could select the state of Tasmania (which is one of the six states in Australia) to do my writing on. I would Google Tasmania and I could find that Tasmania is known for having the cleanest air in the world. That’s 1 Fascinating Fact!  It is located off the southern coast of Australia and was first discovered by a Dutch explorer in 1642. (That’s a historical fact.)
Tasmania  has some of the oldest trees in the world also, another fascinating fact.  This is a simple assignment.  Record all your information in your notebook and date it.

*  One last thing.  You cannot select the United States for this assignment.

  • When you finish, you will take a short quiz for April 21, 2020 in Skyward.

Wednesday, April 22:  Today we will review the 6 Cradles of Civilization.  The term “Cradle of Civilization” is a location where civilization is understood to have emerged or started.  The 6 ancient civilizations are:  Mesoamerica (Central America), Ancient Egypt or Nile River Valley (Africa), Andean (South America), Indus River Valley (India), Yellow River Valley (China) and Mesopotamia (Middle East).

Once you click the link below, it will take you to a map quiz for you to learn and understand where each of these civilizations are located.  Please read the information that is brought up about each of the civilizations when you select it.  Your quiz today will be on the information about each civilization taken from these pop ups.  For today’s assignment click the following link:
